What happens during your appointment

Initial consultation
During the initial consultation, we will review your history of illnesses, accidents and symptoms – past and current – while taking your lifestyle, eating, and sleeping habits into consideration. In addition, the atlasogist will provide you with information on the atlasology technique and about possible reactions.

Follow-up consultation
In your follow-up consultation, any changes and progress in your condition are recorded in writing.

The leg tests
Leg tests provide information on whether the atlas is out of alignment, as well as on pelvic obliquity and pelvic rotation.

Palpating (feeling) the atlas
The atlasogist will touch the transverse processes of the atlas with both middle fingers to locate the atlas' position (which will be either centred or in one of up to 18 different displacements). Thanks to the remarkable and precisely trained sensitivity of the atlasogist, this (literally) fingertip examination could even be considered a fine art.

The energetic adjustment (realigning)
At the core of the atlasology technique is the “adjustment” (or realignment) of the atlas, whereby the atlasologist touches the lateral processes of the atlas with their two middle fingers. An energetic impulse causes the atlas to vibrate, which in turn allows the atlas to move back into its original position. This vibration is perceived by the atlasogist, which is then transmitted to the lumbar vertebrae, the sacrum and the coccyx via the spine. This eliminates any pelvic obliquity, meaning that your legs will optically be the same length again. Carrying out a leg test determines whether the atlas adjustment has been a success.

The rest period
After the atlas adjustment, you'll lie down and rest for at least twenty minutes. During this time, various processes will be taking place in your body. In particular, your entire spine will have the opportunity to realign itself during this phase. Sensitive clients may experience a wide variety of reactions, such as tingling in various parts of the body, a feeling of warmth or cold, etc. Sometimes clients also fall into a relaxing sleep.

Final check
After resting, a further leg test will ensure that the pelvis is straight.

Additional techniques
Adjustment of individual vertebrae or the entire spine, the jawbone (misalignment can be checked with a bite test), the sphenoid or energy balancing of the two hemispheres of the brain may also performed on some patients.

Eliminating the cause
The body has the natural ability to align its own vertebrae. Atlasology reinforces this inherent behaviour, allowing your spine to regenerate itself and eliminate compressed nerves. This improves nerve flow and supports the self-healing process. However, your muscles, tendons, and ligaments will need more time to adapt to this new balanced spinal alignment.

Number of consultations
The number of sessions needed depends on various factors. Even if your symptoms improve very quickly, this does not mean that your treatment is complete. The condition of your spine and the position of your atlas will determine how many sessions you need. We recommend continuing the treatment until your spine has become optimally balanced and your atlas remains in alignment. After that, we recommend regular check-ups as a form of prevention.
